Executive Mayor Herman Mashaba, MMC for Public Safety, Cllr Michael Sun and Chief of JMPD, Mr David Tembe, invites members of the media to join them for a viewing of the un-roadworthy, unlicensed and illegal vehicles impounded by the Joburg Metro Police Department.

Over 500 un-roadworthy, unlicensed and illegal mini bus taxis, and over 60 illegal dumper trucks have been impounded by JMPD since the commencement of Operation Buya Mthetho.

Yesterday, an Alexandra-based taxi association aimed at countering the JMPD efforts to enforce the rule of law of our city by participating in a one-day strike which left hundreds of commuters stranded.

Legal compliance by motorists and their vehicles in line with legislation such as the National Road Traffic Act are compulsory and enforcement are not selective, but applies across the board.

Event will take place as follows:
Date: Tuesday, 26 June 2018
Time: 11:30
Venue: JMPD Pound, Corner Village Street and Loveday Street, Wemmer, Johannesburg.
