The City of Johannesburg hereby informs passengers that Rea Vaya buses will not be operating from tomorrow, Wednesday, 18 April 2018 due to a national bus drivers’ strike.

The City has been notified that members of trade unions, Satawu and Tirisano representing drivers of the Rea Vaya bus operating companies (Piotrans & Litsamaiso) intend to embark on strike action.

Passengers are advised to use alternative transport until the strike is resolved. It is the commitment of the City to provide efficient services to commuters and it is unfortunate that we cannot do so at the moment due to unforeseeable circumstances caused by the bus drivers’ strike.

We will continue to provide regular feedback to passengers through the media and our internal communication such as the Rea Vaya website, Facebook and twitter on developments regarding the strike.

The City apologies for the inconvenience.

For information on bus drivers’ strike, please contact, Mr. Dumisani Mntambo at 0119886558 or 0832647813 and Mr. Mpho Morokolo, General Manager: Operations, Litsamaiso at 0119886558 or 072 367 1153.

Mr. Benny Makgoga, Director: Service Promotions will be able to comment on Rea Vaya BRT Services at 011 870 4612 or 0712812819.
