As the political head of Region F, I would like to take this opportunity to express my pride at the City of Johannesburg’s Citizen Relationship and Urban Management team, as well as the JMPD in Region F, who were recently commended for their “excellent service delivery” of safety operations by the University of the Witwatersrand, in areas surrounding the Braamfontein Campus.
According to a letter from the institution’s Chief Operating Officer, Mr Fana Sibanyoni, to Regional Director, Ms Irene Mafune, the Wits University Protection Services recently reached out to the regional team, who not only responded immediately, but “sustained this with consistent and protracted operations throughout the week”.

Mr Sibanyoni added: “Further, your operations on Empire Road, Jorissen and De Korte Streets will go far in assuring that our students and users in the city are confident of a safe and secure journey through its city streets.”

It is efforts such as those of Region F officials that continue to lead by example and highlight the need to work with the community to change and bring service delivery that meets the immediate needs of the residents.

Congratulations to Ms Mafune and her team.
