Joburg Water warns people about conmen who have approached homeowners wanting to install water saving devices.
BEWARE bogus agents claiming to be its employees, Johannesburg Water has warned residents in the city.

These conmen attempt to use the utility as an alias to gain access to properties under the pretence of installing shower caps to save water.

Millicent Kabwe, Joburg Water’s assistant manager for marketing and communication, says: “We have received calls from concerned residents complaining about four agents spotted in the Lenasia South area claiming to represent [the utility].

“It should be pointed out that any Joburg Water maintenance work is done by trained technical staff employed by Joburg Water.”

Genuine employees will come with a team. They will have proper identity cards, travel in Joburg Water branded vehicles, and wear Joburg Water uniforms.

People are advised to alert relevant security agencies if they are approached by unidentified and suspicious people.
