Chocolate eggs, fun, entertainment, treasure hunt – there’s loads to do at the zoo during the Cadbury Easter Treasure Hunt.
THERE is plenty of family fun and excitement on offer at the Johannesburg Zoo on Sunday, 1 April during the Cadbury Easter Treasure Hunt.
Easter Egg TrailYoung and old alike are expected to enjoy the day, which will be filled with live entertainment, bunny trails, fun activities, jumping castles, roaming magicians and cartoon mascots. The Easter Hunt will consist of three bunny trails at the cheetah slopes, and the chimpanzee and crocodile enclosures, according to Razina Pandor, the marking assistant at the zoo.
At the cheetah slopes, participants will be able to take part in artistic activities along the trail called Cadbury’s Enchanted Land of Art. At the second stop – at the crocodile enclosure – they will be able to paint their faces and then do a “mad monkey mania” at the chimpanzee enclosure. Here, children are expected to be as wild as the chimpanzees.
Participants who complete all three activities will get a Cadbury chocolate egg. The Cadbury Easter Treasure Hunt will be open from 10am to 2pm. Visitors are invited to bring along their picnic baskets to enjoy at the Bandstand.
Magicians will keep them captivated with their tricks and perhaps pulling a rabbit or two from a hat. Other activities planned for the day include sand art, playing in the Cadbury activity centre and face painting.
Young visitors will be able to mingle and take pictures with the Cadbury Chappies, Caramello Bear and Chomp cartoon mascots. “The Cadbury Easter Treasure Hunt is a great way to enjoy fun outdoor family activities within the zoo’s peaceful, safe and serene settings,” says Pandor.
TV and radio personality Ashley Hayden, a celebrity participant in Come Dine With Me South Africa, a television show on BBC Entertainment, will also be there. Hayden will give visitors lucky prizes while Barney Simon, the Jacaranda FM deejay, will broadcast his show live from the zoo’s Brandstand.
Gates open at 8.30am and normal entry fees apply.
