The album Loliwe has sold more than 800 000 unitsLoliwe has sold more than 800 000 unitsThe award-winning singer, who recently scooped eight awards in the 2012 MTN South African Music Awards (SAMAs), will perform during the Old Mutual Music in the Gardens Series concert at Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens in Roodepoort on 27 May.
Born Bulelwa Mkutukana, Zahara stormed onto the music scene in 2011 with her debut album “Loliwe”. The album went platinum 13 days after its release and has since sold more than 800 000 copies to date.
Her prosperity in the South African music industry has prompted many to tip Zahara as the next Miriam Makeba.
Other top South African artists who will perform at the concert are Ard Matthews, Flash Republic, Die Heuwels Fantasties and Black Coffee.
The Old Mutual Music in the Gardens Series is an extension of the sponsorship of the Kirstenbosch Music series in Cape Town and it presents live concerts every two weeks throughout winter season at the Walter Sisulu Botanical Garden.
Tickets for the concert go for R80 at www.ticketbreak.co.za and R100 at the gate. R5 from each pre-sold online ticket will go to the Wildlands Conservation Trust for its Trees for Life initiative. Children under 13 get in free. Gates open at 11am and concert starts at 1:30pm.
