​The new executive director, Tshepo Makola, has been acting director since the departure of former head Audrey Gule.

TSHEPO Makola has been appointed the new executive director of the City’s Emergency Management Services (EMS).

Makola was appointed as acting head. 

The City embarked on a recruitment process to fill the position of EMS’s leadership since Makola’s appointment was temporary. Following a vigorous recruitment process of 35 candidates, interviews were conducted with the most suitable for the position by a panel consisting of the city manager and members of the Mayoral Committee.

Upon introducing the new head to staff in mid-December, the member of the mayoral committee for public safety, Matshidiso Mfikoe, said: “I have the pleasure of announcing that Tshepo Lazarus Makola has been appointed executive director of EMS as from the 1 December 2011. He has been the acting executive director, since Gule vacated the position in July 2011. Please colleagues let us give him the support he needs to carry out the departmental mandate of saving lives and property.”
