RUGBY fans have been invited to join the festivities and bid farewell to the Springboks on Thursday, 1 September at Nelson Mandela Square in Sandton.

The much-anticipated farewell will be held at the square, starting at 12 noon and fans are encouraged to dress in Springbok colours in support of the two-time defending champions. The Boks won the IRB rugby World Cup in 1995 and 2007.

Supporters who arrive early will stand a chance of winning themselves VIP tickets, which will be available through giveaway competitions on 94.7 Highveld Stereo, Radio 702, Pretoria News and The Stand. They also stand a chance accompanying the squad to OR Tambo International Airport on the Gautrain.

Supporters are urged to use the entrance at West Street to Nelson Mandela Square.

The fans’ farewell is a joint initiative between the South African Rugby Union (SARU), Supersport, Absa and the Department of Sport and Recreation.

Local artist will entertain the crowds; among them is Freshly Ground which will be leading the festivities with the official Springbok campaign song, Let’s Do It Again. Award-winners Gold Fish will also set the atmosphere alight.
