City bills will be posted later than usual this month as new tariffs are implemented. But consumers are urged to pay their average amount.
A DELAY in the posting of municipal accounts means that Johannesburg residents will receive their July 2011 statements later than usual and, in some instances, after the due date for payment.

“This is attributable to the delay in the implementation and finalisation of the annual electricity tariffs process which normally comes into effect from the beginning of July,” says the spokesperson for the revenue and customer relations management department, Stanley Maphologela.

“Municipal account holders are reminded that it is still incumbent upon residents to pay their account even if no statement has been received.” He advises that people calculate their normal monthly consumption and pay according to their average amount.

Those customers who receive their statements via the internet will get them as usual and can expect to receive them electronically this week.

“The City of Johannesburg would like to apologise to all its customers who have been adversely affected by these delays,” he says.

The City sends out 1,2 million billing statements per month, of which 750 000 are sent to residential stands.
