The metro police will be out in full force to keep a watchful eye on the ANC Youth League march through Joburg and Sandton, and on to Pretoria. Roads will be closed.
THE Johannesburg metro police department (JMPD) is on high alert ahead of a planned march by the ANC Youth League tomorrow.

Officers will be out in full force to ensure that by-laws relating to the safety of infrastructure are protected and maintained.
A plan has also been put in place with stakeholders to deal with any safety threats that may arise as a result of the march.Traffic management will be beefed up and more officers will be positioned in strategic intersections to monitor and ease the flow of traffic.
In addition, streets will be closed to traffic. Marshall and Sauer streets will be closed, as will Market, President and Pritchard streets between Simmonds and Sauer streets. Queen Elizabeth and Nelson Mandela bridges will be closed, and in Braamfontein, Biccard and Sauer streets, and Biccard and Smit streets will be closed.
In Sandton, Maud Street, between West Street and Rivonia Road, will be closed.
The marchers will converge at 8am at Beyers Naude Square. They will move to the Chamber of Mines using Marshall and Sauer streets, where they will hand over a memorandum, en route to the Johannesburg Stock Exchange in Sandton, using Oxford and Rivonia roads, before heading to the city of Tshwane using Old Pretoria Road.
Motorists are cautioned to avoid Simmonds, Rissik, Marshall, Juta and Smit streets in the inner city, and Oxford and Rivonia roads in the north between 9am and 3pm.
The member of the mayoral committee for public safety, Matshidiso Mfikoe, has apologised in advance for any inconvenience that may be caused and has asked for patience from everyone.
