The City of Johannesburg once again took time to attend to customers queries on an open day that was held at the Randburg Customer Service Centre. Ratepayers got an opportunity to report their billing queries in their backyard on Saturday the 28th of June 2014.
 
The City’s Revenue Shared Services Centre (RSSC)  had brought the Open Day to the Randburg Customer Service Centre, and more than 500 customers showed up to have their queries resolved.
 
Customers who don’t have time during the week to go to a Walk-in Centre could also be assisted on a Saturday. The City has been hosting Open Days in all its regions since 2011 to demonstrate its commitment to customer care.
 
According to Nomasonto Radebe, Acting Director of Customer Service Centers, the project to assist customers in their own areas with their billing queries is ongoing.  She commended staff members for responding positively towards this initiative and going the extra mile to assist customers. 
“This initiative has assisted many customers throughout the City. Customers are coming in large numbers whenever there is an Open Day. It shows that there is an increasing demand from customers to have such days.”
 
Radebe says the City has managed to resolve lots of queries, including refunds, billing, payment arrangements and reconnections during Open Days. “In fact all the services that the City offers are available to customers.”
 
 Ester Anderson, a 73 year old from Windsor West, was overjoyed with the prompt service she received from Mongisizwe April, one of the customer relations agents who helped her to resolve her billing query. Mrs. Anderson couldn’t stop to express her joy now that her account is up-to-date and she has a printout of her updated statement.  “I came here this morning and I had a query on my account in that I had been sent the wrong water readings and as a result got a huge bill but Mongi showed me where the mistake was and sorted out my account.  I’m very happy that my account is up-to-date,” she said.
