The City of Johannesburg, in conjunction with the Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (GDARD) and Joburg Tourism, are hosting the annual Kasi to Kasi public transport adventure on Friday, 19 October 2018, as part of Transport Month.
This adventure will expose participants to public transport as they explore the City as well as learn about the carbon footprint of their transport option choices. The adventure will further challenge individuals to work closely with fellow team members.

Ten teams will each be given a set of clues to assist in finding tourist and other sites of interest, as well as a log sheet to record types of transport used and km, travelled using each type of transport.
The teams will include the MMC for Transport Cllr Nonhlanhla Makhuba and the Chairperson of the Section 79 Committee for Transport Cllr Tyrell Meyers as well as members of the media and City officials.
“This is an exciting way for people who normally don't use public transport to explore the City's hidden gems. We wish all the participants fun for this fun-filled day and a great adventure getting to know the City," said MMC Makhuba.
This year, the objective of the event has been extended to incorporate the climate change aspect through support provided by the Climate Change, Information and Research team from GDARD.
Mbongiseni Masuku, Event Organiser from the Transport Department, said: “The intended outcomes include general awareness of public transport challenges and the various transport modes available in the CoJ, as well as knowledge of specific tourism sites."
