The Johannesburg Arts Alive International Festival 2018 programme, which positions the City of Joburg as a destination of choice when it comes to artistic and creative destinations, is in full swing.
The festival offers a variety of events that caters to a diverse audience. Krumping, popping, locking, gwara gwara, vosho and pantsula are just some of the dance moves that will be exhibited during this week’s Arts Alive events.
Residents and entertainment enthusiasts can look forward to a cultural explosion on Saturday 15 September at the Cultural Festival as well as Heritage Unity Festival featuring Busiswa, Mi Casa, Kwesta, Mgarimbe and many more.
The Youth Creativity and Cultural Expression, taking place on 16 September, features poetry, dance and music rounds up the weekend celebrations.
Global Dance Supreme

8-16 September, Walter Sisulu Hall, Randburg.
The first-ever Africa and inter-continental dance championship with 15 countries expected to compete in the extraordinary dance championship will be an event filled with dance icons. Featuring Candice Brown (USA), Marie Poppings (FR), Sello Reuben Modiga (RSA), Spartan (USA). City of Johannesburg in partnership with Vees Entertainment gives the residences of the City good music from community cultural groups to award winning artists. Residence will also have access to good food with our indigenous food fest, cultural exchange, car show and battle of the DJ’s. Featured artist on the day are: Sketchy Bongo, Kwesta, Mi Casa, Busiswa, Mgarimbe, Zanzi Africa, Mark Stent, Basel Grey, Kyle Cassim, DJ Sushi, Craig De Sousa and Sgwebo Sentambo.

Community based event in Region D that will encompass visual arts (cultural exhibitions), percussionists, variety of live music performances, education, poetry and dance. Featured guest artist for the event is Sho Madjozi.

Museum Africa
Showcasing of the most prestigious ceramics works in Gauteng.
3) Tribute to Letta Mbulu, The Living Legend. 24 September, FREE
Orlando Communal Hall, Soweto
The community of Orlando pay tribute to a South African music icon with a concert in her honour.
4) Showbiz Entertainment Africa (SEAfrica) Conference. 26-27 September (R 290)
Joburg Theatre, Braamfontein
Showbiz Entertainment Africa (SEAfrica) conference will host exhibitions, workshops and networking sessions propelling it to be the ultimate business meeting place for talent, managers, entrepreneurs, business and other role players in the entertainment industry to stay ahead of the dynamic and ever changing industry.
