Zachariya Park Football Club have walked away with a R100 000 cheque after lifting the Big Shoe Cup in Africa, which was hosted by the City of Joburg and Kellog’s Tsalanang Winter Games 2018 finals soccer tournament.
The aim of the soccer tournament on from Saturday, 21 July 2018, to Sunday, 22 July 2018, Braamfischer Multipurpose Centre was to raise funds, which will be used to pay for 11 surgeries for children with facial deformities.
The City partnered with TMT Sports Group, SA Coach Association and Smile Foundation assist to raise funds for the children.
The first and second legs of the games took place during the winter school holidays. A total of 32 teams from Daveyton, Katlehong and Randfontein, among other places, took part in the elimination rounds from 1 July 2018.
Zachariya Park Football Club scooped the mega prize after their win over Braamfischer Barcelona Football Club. Spectators’ encouragement and vuvuzelas made the games exciting.
