The City of Johannesburg’s Department of Social Development, in partnership with the Motsepe Foundation, brought festive cheer to the children of Joburg on 10 December 2018.

On an annual basis the Motsepe Foundation hosts a Christmas toy drive. The foundation believes that it is important that every child receive a toy for the Christmas period.

The City of Joburg is a pro-poor government that supports the Motsepe Foundation vision of making children happy of the festive season.

The City and the Motsepe Foundation provided a total of 4 000 Christmas toys to children across all the regions.

MMC for Health and Social Development Cllr Mpho Phalatse played Mother Christmas and delivered toys to excited pre-school children.

“The children were involved in choosing which toys they wanted and each child walked away very happy. This toy run initiative is important because it gives children toys so that their too can have a smile and have a festive season,” said MMC Phalatse.
