The Joburg Roads Agency has appointed Goodwill Mbatha, a qualified chartered accountant, as its new Managing Director with effect from 1 November 2018.
Mbatha is no stranger to the corridors of JRA, having spent the last six years as chief financial officer. He has worked for auditing firm Deloitte and subsequently spent three years harnessing his financial skills in Australia.
Early in his career, Mbatha's good reputation and credibility had drawn the attention of the Auditor-General of South Africa where he found himself serving as an Auditor for the City of Johannesburg.
Mbatha takes pride in that he played an integral role in reducing JRA's overdraft from R200 million to R50 million on his appointment in 2012.
As the newly appointed MD, his focus is to align the JRA's service delivery strategy to that of the City.
“The focus would be to improve the company's performance, achieve all set targets and create a customer centric organisation," says Mbatha.
