Last week, two suspects were arrested for being in possession of 87 kilograms of copper cables and 3 kilograms of aluminum, valued at R85 430, without the required documentation.
The suspected stolen goods were taken to the Booysens Police Station along with suspects, who were charged with theft of copper cables.
The suspects were also found to be in possession of an unlicensed vehicle transporting the cables. The two men were apprehended when the Department of Public Safety's Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) received a tip-off on 27 July 2018, regarding a white Mazda van that was fully loaded with copper cables.

MMC for Public Safety, Cllr Michael Sun welcomed the arrests and urged community members to continuing providing the police with information. “The information provided by the community members was vital to ensuring that the suspects were brought to book. Residents are urged to report criminality within their communities to the Police to ensure that those who aim to wreak havoc in our City are arrested. The war against crime is a joint effort and this incident proved that when we work together we will win,” said MMC Sun.
