The James Hall Museum of Transport will host “Ride for Madiba” charity event this Saturday July 21 at the museum. The event, which brings together Vintage Car and Bike clubs from across Gauteng as well as ordinary members of the public, is part of 100 years centenary celebrations of the birth of the former President Nelson Mandela.
From 10am to 4pm, patrons will be entertained with music, children’s playground, 1952 London Bus rides, complimentary guided tours of the museum, vintage car show, arts and craft stalls. People are encouraged to bring their own camp chairs, picnic baskets and refreshments.
Families and friends will have fun together as they take up the challenge to all South Africans to locate the Madiba within themselves and donate old clothes, warm blankets and any other items to less fortunate people.

Situated at Pioneer’s Park along Rosettenville Road, James Hall Transport Museum was established in 1964 and remains the largest land transport museum in South Africa.
The museum boasts a rare collection of land transport which ranges from trains, trams, trolley buses, vintage motorcycles and bicycles, steam driven vehicles to animal drawn carriages. With its notable vintage collection, James Hall Transport Museum has a niche market which plays an important role in diversifying tourism in the Gauteng region and attracting tourists of a special kind.
