The stage is set. Be part of history tomorrow and join the army of city employees who’ll be out in force to give Joburg a sparkle in full glare of TV cameras.

Come prepared. Dress casually. Bring your infectious smile and laughter. If you have a pair of hardy gloves, bring them with. Your broom, spade and rake will help us remove some of the grime that has built up over the years. Lets’s keep the streets and kerbs of the city of gold free from dirt.

Join millions of South Africans and others across the globe who will be dedicating 67 minutes of service to their fellow beings in memory of Nelson Mandela.

Like a well drilled battalion, we will start from the Metro Centre at 11am and end at Joburg Railway Station 67 minutes later, wiping out rubbish along the way. Tomorrow’s campaign will be led by the Executive Mayor, Cllr Herman Mashaba, and some members of his mayoral committee.

To mark the significance of Madiba’s birthday, SABC Africa will record the clean up as scores of City employees ensure that their surrounds are kept clean in their quest to spread the message of cleanliness across the City’s seven regions.

Remember: A Joburg that works is a South Africa that works. Let’s keep Jozi clean and spread Madiba’s legacy.
