Businesses and residents have been invited to public meetings of the City of Johannesburg’s Metropolitan Trading Company (MTC).
MTC has started a process to unlock commercial value of its broadband network by selling pockets of its broadband network to small, medium and micro enterprises (SMMEs).
This will enable MTC to optimise its function and empower the municipality to manage its network and resources efficiently.
This will stimulate socio-economic activity by increasing SMMEs participation through a broader catalogue of ICT products and services it will offer for resell. It will unlock and support the Smart City initiatives that seek to improve service delivery and the experiences of residents in the City of Johannesburg.
The first public meetings will be held tomorrow at Marks Park and Phelindaba Chamber, 1st Floor, 100 Christiaan de Wet Road, Florida North, from 6pm to 8pm.
Wednesday will see a meeting being held at Eureka House, Wemmerpan, and Ernest Ullmann Park Recreational Centre, 1 Minto Road, Morningside, Sandton.
Meetings will be held at A-level lecture theatre, Metro Centre in Braamfontein and Midrand Fire Station, Auditorium on Thursday, 15 August 2019, from 6pm to 8pm. The last meeting will be held on Saturday at the Sophie Masite Council Chamber, Jabulani Civic Centre, 1 Koma Rd, Jabulani from 10am to 12pm.
