The JRA welcomes Siyabonga Nodu, the newly appointed head of Corporate Services.
He hit the ground running on Monday, 18 February 2019.
An HR pro with over 10 years’ experience, Nodu was an executive at SASSA and headed the City of Ekurhuleni’s Transport’s Facilities, Human Resource Management, Information Communication Technology (ICT), and Legal Services and was responsible for Fleet Management.
He holds an honours degree in psychology from Fort Hare University and a postgraduate diploma in executive development from North West University. He is completing a master’s in human capital management at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology.
Nodu believes taking charge of the future begins by mapping out detailed plans to achieve a few milestones while at the JRA, including stabilising the workplace and averting attrition.
He has set his sights on fostering good relations between employees and the unions, and synchronising his team’s efforts with the entity’s vision and corporate values.
“I also want to ensure that all facilities are well maintained and that regular inspections are conducted in order to improve working conditions. We need to avoid occupational injuries as a result of adverse effects from poorly maintained facilities,” he explains.
Nodu hopes to draw up a standard facilities management plan that is monitored and communicated to all staff to ensure that Corporate Services is held accountable.
He looks forward to finding ways of uniting the workforce and helping them operate optimally within the fields of Performance Management and Employee Development.
Nodu wants to use his position to enable all departments at JRA to deliver according to performance standards and values outlined in the Managing Director’s (MD) strategic framework.
“I see myself as an agent of change and influence as well as a facilitator of transformation here at the JRA,” he says.
Nodu hails from Mdantsane in the Eastern Cape. He enjoys watching football, the Formula One Grand Prix and walking his dog. He says he is passionate about communication.
