With school about to close for the year, most parents are worried how to keep them engaged and out of mischief.

It is with this in mind that the City of Johannesburg’s public libraries have planned a holiday programme aimed at keeping young ones busy and creative as part of its ‘December School Holiday Fun @ Libraries Programme’.

A range of activities for children and young people at designated libraries are scheduled to take place from November 28 2019 to 7 January 2020. The activities are aimed at providing a wide variety of fun related learning and reading experiences to children of all ages in a safe environment.

The activities are offered free of charge during library hours to both members and non-members of libraries. At Bosmont Library, for example, there will be a storytelling session about Rudolph the red nose reindeer on November 28. On December 12, Cosmo City Library will get young people to decorate its Christmas tree and play traditional games. Baetapele Book Club has also been invited.

Activities will include Christmas-themed arts and craft activities, story times, games, face painting, and eLearning programmes.

The holiday programme varies from one library to the other. Residents are urged to visit their local libraries to get more details so that they can plan more holiday fun for their little ones.
