As art of celebrating Transport Month, the City of Johannesburg’s Environment Infrastructure Service Department (EISD) will host a transport symposium under the theme “Reducing fossil fuel emissions as we transition towards a low carbon transport in Misspelled WordCoJ”.
The event is hosted at the Venue, Melrose Arch, on Wednesday, 16 October 2019, in partnership with Deutsche Misspelled WordGesellshaaft Misspelled Wordfϋr International Misspelled WordZusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
The key objective is to highlight the city’s policy and strategy towards ensuring sustainable transportation. The symposium seeks to create awareness and to showcase the transport sector best practices with regards to air quality and climate change.
Various thematic topics will be covered such as climate action plan, understanding the impact of vehicle emissions on the air quality in COJ, emissions monitoring and evaluation, green transport strategy, emissions reduction and low carbon transition within smart cities, among others.
This event forms part of the 2019 Transport Month celebrations with a focus on the impact of the transport sector on air quality and climate change. It is hoped that the symposium will identify opportunities and interventions that can significantly contribute to air pollution and climate change mitigation.
