The City of Johannesburg, in partnership with Beat Makers Market, provided a platform for aspiring artists to showcase their talent and wrapped up proceedings with a skills development workshop at the 27th edition of Arts Alive.
One of the popular artists, Spikiri from Trompies, was overwhelmed by these up and coming artists.

“It is very exciting to see these young artists believing in themselves and coming out in the open. Yes, you can do whatever you want in life and it doesn’t matter the situation or the background you are from,” he commented.
It was an innovative networking event geared towards artists and producers meeting to build successful business relationships. The event included beat pitches, workshops, panel discussions, live production demonstrations and exhibition stalls.
Event organisers hope these exchanges will go a long way in ensuring that the City of Johannesburg entrenches its place as the capital city of talent in South Africa. The workshop was also intended to present the needs of South Africans, supporting and developing Arts, Culture and Heritage, to benefit and empower all residents of the City and beyond.
Member of the Mayoral Committee for Community Development in the City of Johannesburg Cllr Nonhlanhla Sifumba said the City was honoured to partner with the Beat Makers Market and hoped this partnership will continue for many years to come.
MMC Sifumba encouraged residents to attend some of the workshops that are lined up for the 27th edition of Arts Alive programme, which runs until the end of the month. The event also honoured both the late and the living legends in the music history.
