No Rea Vaya buses on holiday

THERE will be a change in the Rea Vaya bus timetable over the long Easter weekend, commuters have been advised.

Buses will not run on Good Friday - 2 April - and passengers are urged to take this into account when planning their journeys.

"The stations will be closed on 2 April and we will reopen again on Saturday at 6am [and run] until 6pm," said Rea Vaya's operations manager, Jeff Ngcobo. "We recognise that this will [affect] passengers and local residents but we will ensure that the disruption is kept to a minimum."

On Family Day - Monday, 5 April - buses will run on a Saturday schedule, from 6am to 4pm. Feeder and complementary buses will also be running. For more information on the holiday schedule, visit the Rea Vaya website.

Rea Vaya is a world-class public transport system that offers competitive prices. There are bus stations every 500 metres with security officers and CCTV cameras linked to a control room.

The phase 1A starter service began running at the beginning of September 2009, along a trunk route from Soweto to Ellis Park Stadium on the eastern edge of the inner city. The full phase 1A is being rolled out, with more stations being built and the routes expanded and extended.
