Pikitup works on holidays
IT will be business as usual for Pikitup during the upcoming holidays in April.
The City's waste removal utility will collect rubbish on the public holidays of Good Friday, 2 April; Family Day on Monday, 5 April; and Freedom Day on Tuesday, 27 April. All domestic and bulk waste collection, inner city cleaning services and waste services will continue as normal on these days.
So, residents whose refuse is normally collected on these days are advised to take out their rubbish, as usual. "Pikitup will provide a full service on these days," said the company's spokesperson, Pansy Jali-Oyedele.
Jali-Oyedele also urged residents to recycle waste material that will emanate from these holidays, such as greeting cards, beverage bottles and ice cream containers.
