Come 31 January to 2 February 2020, the Arthur Ashe Tennis Centre in Central Western Jabavu, Soweto, will be buzzing with tennis activities.
This is part of the BNP Paribas Rising Star Tennis showdown, a tennis initiative aimed at increasing participation and passion for tennis.

The City of Joburg prides itself that the Arthur Ashe Tennis Centre has been chosen as the most suitable venue to host this initiative which includes coaching clinics, school sport development, talent identification, disability sport and promotion of sport excellence. This affirms the city’s contribution to the broader sport development agenda as outlined in the National Sport and Recreation Plan, said Member of the Mayoral Committee for Community Development Councillor Margaret Arnolds.
Kevin Anderson, the current SA top tennis player and Lloyd Harris, the rising star who competes among the ranks of Roger Federer, will be engaging in key activities as scheduled below.

Friday 31 Jan 2020 | 11:00 - 17:00: Rising Star Tennis- Day 1 of the National Primary School Finals at the Arthur Ashe Tennis Centre (AATC) in Soweto. Both boys and girls events consist of 10 teams (10 x boys teams & 10x girls teams) each. 13:00 - 13:30: Players Media Conference- Kevin Anderson and Lloyd Harris at the AATC in Soweto.
13:30 - 14:00: Kevin & Lloyds meet and great- with Rising Star teams at the AATC.
14:00 - 15:00: Development Clinics- Kevin & Lloyd to be part of development clinics at AATC, which will be attended by kids from AATC development programme.

Saturday 01 Feb 2020 | 09:00 - 17:00: Rising Star Tennis- Day 2 of the National Primary School Finals at the AATC. 14:00 - 15:30: Sponsor hitting session- with Kevin and Lloyd. Venue: Sandton Sport Club Sandton.
19:00 - 21:00: Sponsor Dinner- Private dinner with Kevin and Lloyd at the Sandton Sun Hotel.

Sunday 2 February 2020 | All activities at AATC in Soweto
09:00 - 13:00: Finals of the Rising Star Tennis- Day 3 of the National Primary School finals commence at 11:00 and end at 13:00. 13:00 - 14:00: Celebrity & wheelchair tennis challenge match-celebrities wheel chair tennis players and able-bodies player to battle it out in a mixed doubles match- as curtain raisers.
14:00 - 15:45: Exhibition matches between Kelvin Anderson and Lloyd Harris. Followed by on-court TV interviews. Includes 15 minute player warm up.
15:45 - 16:00: Prize giving for national winners of the Rising Star Tennis- National Primary school champs. Trophies and medals presentation by BNP Paribas/ RCS VIPs + Kevin and Lloyd. Opportunity for sponsor's speeches.
16:00 - 16:30: Press Conference- Kevin and Lloyd. BNP Paribas/ RCS. Tennis South Africa to conduct a media conference with attending media.
