Two employees in the City's Housing Department are recuperating at home after contracting the Covid-19 pandemic.
The one staff member works for the Johannesburg Social Housing Company (JOSHCO) and the other one is based at the Reuven Old Age Home.
“Both employees, who cannot be named due to confidentiality, are currently in self-isolation at home until they both fully recover from the virus that has claimed thousands of lives globally," says Mlungisi Mabaso, the MMC for Housing.
Mabaso has instructed all other employees who have been in contact with the infected persons to undergo testing while they are in self-quarantine.
“Furthermore, each and every unit will be disinfected through a deep-cleaning service to ensure that the facility remains free of Covid-19," he says.
While many coronavirus cases continue to climb in the country, Mabaso says it is incumbent on every citizen to ensure they maintain social distancing and apply precautionary measures to stop the spread of the deadly disease.
“I'd like to urge everyone to be extra cautious during this period and apply all precautionary measures to curb the spread of the virus," he says.
