Services at the Sandton and Langlaagte Licensing Centres remain suspended after employees there tested positive for Covid-19.
The MMC for Public Safety, Mally Mokoena says the centres will resume operations on Monday, 29 June 2020.
“As a precautionary measure and in line with the National Department of Health protocols and guidelines, the buildings have been immediately closed, pending the process of deep cleaning and disinfection,” Mokoena explains.
The MMC says staff members from all units at the centres have been sent for screening.
“Those who were in direct contact with the affected employees will undergo testing while they are in self-quarantine. The employees are currently in self-isolation at home until full recovery,” she explains.
Mokoena has wished the affected employees and their families well during this difficult time.
“The wellbeing of our staff, especially those on the frontline, is our greatest concern. As such, we will continue to ensure that all the requisite measures and practices for the protection of our employees are in place at all times,” she says.
She’s encouraged all residents and employees of the City to continue following the necessary preventative measures to stay safe, including the constant and correct wearing of face masks, hand hygiene and adherence to social distancing.
