The City's Human Capital Management and Payroll system is set to go digital this March as the implementation of the SAP Business Transformation Programme gains momentum.

The system will provide Human Resource services on a digital platform, enabling you, as a City employee, to perform a range of HR functions online, including:

  • Managing your leave
  • Viewing your personal profile
  • Viewing your payslip
  • Viewing the City's employee directory and
  • Viewing your directorate's Team Calendar

The implementation of these functions will happen in March at the following sites:
  1. CoJ Core Administration
  2. Pikitup
  3. Metro Trading Company
  4. Johannesburg Social Housing Company
  5. Johannesburg Property Company
  6. Metrobus
  7. Johannesburg Development Agency

These changes will see City employees getting a new SAP number with the following eight digit series: 10001234 instead of the usual 30012345 sequence.

During the transition period, the old system with the 3 000 series will run concurrently with the new upgrade. Human Resource practitioners from across the City are currently being trained to handle the new system.

The new programme enables an integrated municipal solution that:

  • Replaces all manual spreadsheet-based processes with automated processes
  • Consolidates the City's different complex multiple business models into a single operating model for the entire City and
  • Allows Departments and Entities to directly interact in an integrated and seamless way.
