The City is providing additional services at customer centres across all regions in a bid to solidify revenue collection and improve municipal functions.
Having successfully hosted Open Days in regions E, B, G and F, the City is now rolling out the same to the remaining regions, being A, C and D respectively.
The remaining series of Open Days is scheduled to be hosted as follows:
• 17/10/2020 to 22/10/2020 - Region A, Midrand
• 07/11/2020 to 12/11/2020 - Region C, Roodepoort
• 14/11/2020 to 19/11/2020 - Region D, Soweto
The MMC for Finance, Cllr Jolidee Matongo says each Open Day has been followed by extended operational hours in pursuit of resolving outstanding queries.
Cllr Matongo says hosting regionalised Open Days is a precursor to decentralising customer service.
“This is aimed at improving the experience of ratepayers when interacting with the City across all regions,” says the MMC.
Ratepayers can expect more service offerings as part of the ongoing decentralised approach, he says.
Category A (main) Customer Service Centres are fully equipped to offer meter readings (water & electricity), change of ownership, statement repository, updates to payment details, special meter reading requests, signing of Acknowledgement of Debt, logging of queries and general account enquiries.
Cllr Matongo says the City is demonstrating its commitment to improving customer services.
“Ratepayers can expect a visible display of the following at every category A Customer Service Centre: service charter, query escalation process, the statement explained and a councillor’s help desk.”
The MMC notes that these value commitments empower customers to be aware of service standards the City has pledged to provide its ratepayers, as well as the type of services they should expect from the municipality.
He’s called on ratepayers to use category A Customer Service Centres, which are situated strategically across all regions.
“The City’s regionalisation approach to customer services is intended to accelerate the resolution of all queries as well as to improve customer centricity for the benefit of ratepayers,” says Cllr Matongo.
