​The Spar Proteas wrapped up a 3-0 series victor​y against Malawi on Sunday, 3 November 2024, in the final match of the Spar Challenge Netball Series at Ellis Park Arena in Johannesburg. The Proteas delivered a powerful performance, defeating their African rivals 69-24 in front of an enthusiastic crowd.


This decisive win marked the Proteas' third consecutive victory in the series, demonstrating their skill, teamwork, and dominance on the court. Fans filled the stadium with excitement, cheering and singing.


Among the attendees was Lerato Malaza, who expressed her pride in the Proteas' achievement, saying: “Watching the team play with such focus and energy was an amazing experience. They truly represented our country well."


The Executive Mayor of the City of Johannesburg, Cllr Dada Morero, also attended the event and shared his thoughts on the city's commitment to women's sports. “The City of Johannesburg is dedicated to supporting Netball South Africa and providing programs that empower women in sports and other areas to help them succeed.

“We would be delighted if Netball South Africa made Johannesburg their home for netball. Hosting this final match in our City has been an honour, and we are thrilled by the team's success," Mayor Morero said.

The atmosphere at Ellis Park Arena was electric, with fans celebrating each goal and cheering the Proteas to victory. The support from the Johannesburg crowd was a fitting end to a successful series, as the Spar Proteas once again proved their strength on the African netball stage.
