This vibrant event promises to blend the beauty of nature with the electrifying energy of live performances, offering an unforgettable day for music lovers and families alike.
Taking place at the Joburg Zoo on Saturday, 21 September 2024, this one-of-a-kind celebration promises a memorable start to spring. With gates opening at 10 AM and live performances kicking off at 11 AM, attendees can expect a day full of excitement, music, and fun activities suitable for all ages.
“As the zoo blossoms with the new season, Joburg City Theatres has curated a lineup of top-tier musical talent that will transform the tranquil zoo into a lively celebration of sound. From pop to electronic beats, the event promises something for everyone,” says Bonganintando Maseko, Digital Content and Public Relations Senior Manager for Joburg City Theatres.
Headlining the Spring to Zoo Life Concert are South Africa's finest artists, including Matthew Mole, Shekhinah, Tamara Dey, Locnville and Vin Deysel.
“Together, this diverse group of artists will provide the perfect soundtrack to your spring day, ensuring an enjoyable experience for music lovers of all genres,” Maseko says.
While music is at the heart of the Spring to Zoo Life Concert, the event offers much more than just live performances. Joburg City Theatres has crafted a true family-friendly affair, with activities designed to entertain and engage visitors of all ages.
For those bringing young ones along, the event offers a dedicated Kiddies Play Area, equipped with supervised attractions that ensure children can enjoy themselves in a safe and secure environment. Highlights of the play zone include bouncy attractions for younger children to enjoy; a 10m x 10m parachute adventure for those seeking a thrill; bungee stations for high-energy fun; Classic Red & White Carnival stalls, featuring popular kiddie games; sand art, crafts, mask-making, face painting, and airbrush tattoos, allowing kids to get creative as well as a Minute-to-Win-It competition, offering a chance for families to engage in friendly competition.
“The festival truly caters to all ages, with activities that ensure everyone from toddlers to teenagers has something to look forward to. Understanding the needs of families, Joburg City Theatres has gone the extra mile to ensure that all visitors enjoy a comfortable experience. In addition to the secured play areas, the event will feature dedicated kiddies' corners, monitored by professional childminders and security personnel for added peace of mind. Clean, accessible ablution facilities will also be provided to ensure that all guests can relax and focus on enjoying the event,” Maseko explains.
Event attendees will benefit from secure parking facilities. The main parking area will be located at the zoo's Upper Park Drive entrance, with additional overflow parking available at Saxonworld Primary School. Both parking areas will be monitored, ensuring that vehicles are safely parked while guests enjoy their day of music and fun.

Food and beverages will also be available for purchase at the event, with a selection of vendors offering a range of delicious options to satisfy all tastes.
Tickets for the Spring to Zoo Life Concert are now available for purchase. Priced to accommodate a wide range of attendees, the tickets include entry to both the zoo and the concert, offering exceptional value for a full day of entertainment. Ticket prices are as follows: R350 for adults; R170 for pensioners and students and R70 for children under the age of 12.
