​The City of Johannesburg hosted a sports festival on Saturday, 28 March 2026, at the Patterson Park Multipurpose Centre in Orange Grove. The festival saw selected participants from the seven regions competing for the champions crown. Netball, basketball, volleyball, female soccer and swimming were on display.

The festival was the culmination of a series of regional festivals since the beginning of the year. Saturday was the final showdown and participants came prepared. They understood the assignment and delivered impressive action aimed at snatching the big prize for their region.

Festival chairperson and MC Enock Mosiea thanked all stakeholders and sponsors for their involvement, hinting at plans for next year's event. Thato Stoch also took the reins as additional MC for the showcase.

Before the event started, spectators were treated to a display by a team of vibrant dancers who wowed the crowd with impressive amapiano dance moves, ushering the jampacked action of the day.

Member of Mayoral Council for Community Development in the City of Johannesburg Cllr Thapelo Amad commended the Sports and Recreation team, organisers, sponsors and participants for a successful event.

“I am proud and extremely humbled to see such commitment displayed by all involved to bring this event to fruition. The success of this event is not just entertainment and winning prizes. It is about the City's commitment to unifying communities, developing talent, promoting health and fitness as well as team building," said Cllr Amad.
