Soccer fans heading to the Soweto Derby on Sunday, 26 April 2026 can travel to the FNB Stadium for as little as R14 using the City of Joburg's Rea Vaya BRT buses, making it an affordable and convenient option for matchday travel.
Rea Vaya will operate a special service for the highly anticipated clash between Orlando Pirates FC and Kaizer Chiefs FC, with routes covering Sandton, Alexandra (T4 buses), Cresta (C4 buses), Yeoville, Parktown (F11 & F12 buses), Florida North (C5 buses), the Joburg CBD and several parts of Soweto (T1, T3 & C1 buses).
Fans travelling from Sandton and Alexandra can use the T4 buses to Library Gardens Westbound, where they will connect to T1 and C1 services to the FNB Stadium. To accommodate increased demand, T4 services will run every five minutes from 11:00, ensuring smoother travel into the CBD.
Rea Vaya's Soccer City (FNB Stadium) station will open at 10:00, giving supporters ample time to arrive early ahead of the 15:00 kick-off.
Commuters using T3 buses from the Joburg CBD and Braamfontein can connect to T1 and C1 routes at the Orlando Stadium Station at no additional cost, making transfers seamless and budget-friendly.
Fare options remain accessible, with trips from Thokoza Park in Soweto and Park Station priced at R14, while those travelling from Sandton (Atholl) and Alexandra will pay R19. Fans can purchase account-based ticketing cards at any Rea Vaya station for R40.00 and are encouraged to load enough credit for a return trip. The cards can also be reused for future travel.
For safety and convenience, the City urges fans to arrive early and note that no alcohol is permitted on buses or within stations.
After the match, buses departing from FNB Stadium will run at five-minute intervals to efficiently transport supporters home. Services from the stadium will conclude at 19:00, with the last T4 bus from the Joburg CBD to Alexandra and Sandton departing Library Gardens Eastbound at 20:00.
