To commemorate Workers' Month, the Drieziek library hosted a job-hunting workshop for young people on Tuesday, 06 May 2026. It was held in partnership with Setshaba Sohle Business Forum, a community-based organisation that has a partnership with the Department of Employment and Labour.

The programme was aimed at helping the youth to apply for learnerships and jobs. Participants were assisted with face-to-face interview preparations and how to properly fill in Z83 forms when applying for government jobs. They also had a discussion on the challenges they face when applying for jobs.

The library used the opportunity to market the City of Johannesburg's Library and Information Services and resources, and encouraged the participants to register for library memberships so that they can enjoy the full services and resources available at the library. Participants were mostly unemployed youths from Drieziek in Region G.

​​The Member of Mayoral Committee for Community Development in the City of Johannesburg, Cllr Thapelo Amad, lauded the programme. “We are proud to be part of this important project to empower our young ones with these important skills that prepare them to take over the employment sector.

“Youth unemployment in this country will certainly get to be addressed by such initiatives. As the City, we wish the participants all the best as they go out to take on the world."

The library runs different programmes on Wednesdays with different stakeholders.

Meanwhile, Rosettenville Library hosted a Mothers' Day session with the little ones from surrounding creches. Children from Good Luck Early Childhood Centre and Toddlers Town Academy designed Mothers' Day cards for delivery this weekend.
