Joburg Tourism is gearing up to showcase the city's vibrant tourism offering at Africa's Travel Indaba 2026, which runs until 14 May at Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre in eThekwini.
Recognised as the continent's premier travel trade show, Africa's Travel Indaba attracts thousands of international buyers, tourism leaders and media representatives. Joburg Tourism's participation aims to strengthen the city's global profile, promote tourism investment and unlock new opportunities for local businesses.
The delegation will position Johannesburg as Africa's leading destination for business, culture, lifestyle and leisure tourism. It will engage with tour operators, buyers and media, while showcasing innovative tourism products and experiences that reflect the diversity and energy of Johannesburg. A strong focus will also be placed on supporting small, medium and micro enterprises through networking, partnerships and access to broader tourism markets.
Tourism continues to play a major role in Johannesburg's economy, contributing billions in visitor spend and supporting thousands of jobs across the hospitality, transport, entertainment and cultural sectors. Through its Destination Marketing Programme, Joburg Tourism is working to increase visitor numbers, extend stays and drive economic growth.
As part of its programme at Indaba, Joburg Tourism will host a stakeholder and media networking breakfast on 13 May to strengthen relationships and promote collaboration within the tourism industry.
“Africa's Travel Indaba provides an important platform to showcase Johannesburg's vibrancy, diversity and potential. It allows us to strengthen partnerships, attract investment and position the city as a destination of choice for both business and leisure travellers," said Zonela.
Located at stand DEC 1L07 at the Durban Exhibition Centre, Joburg Tourism will exhibit alongside several tourism and hospitality partners, including Constitution Hill, City Sightseeing Johannesburg, Standard Bank Joy of Jazz and Soweto's Lebo Backpackers.
Together, the co-exhibitors will showcase Johannesburg's rich heritage, cultural diversity, entertainment scene and entrepreneurial spirit to a global audience.
