​This sector continues to show strong growth, with global IT market intelligence firm IDC reporting that SA’s IT spend is set to grow to ZAR 125-billion by 2013, driving the creation of 2300 new businesses and 95 000 new jobs (2009 – 2013).

The Government is expected to be the primary driver of ICT spend after the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Within Joburg, opportunities exist in the following areas:

  • ICT skills development
  • ICT research and development
  • Provision of ICT infrastructure
  • ICT incubation and venture capital.

The City is focusing on sustainable and catalytic projects and is looking for business partners and industry players to take these forward.

75 percent of South Africa's major ISPs are based in Joburg
