Joburg’s Department of Economic Development has identified key sectors, with its Sector Development Programme focused on strengthening the competitiveness of the sectors, including support initiatives.

The City of Joburg is divided into seven regions, each enjoying differing levels of sector involvement. The regional map highlights some of the key economic precincts in each region.

Percentages refer to the percentage that a sector or industry contributes to the City's Gross Geographic Product (GGP).
