Rissik Street
Central Johannesburg's main north-south arterial, Rissik Street, takes its name from Johann Rissik, land surveyor of early Johannesburg, and its first administrator. Rissik was born in Holland and arrived in Pretoria in 1876, and moved to the gold rush town in 1886.
