T
he Directorate provides a diverse range of services including the collection, conservation and proclamation of unique and diverse cultural heritage of South Africans within the City of Johannesburg. It provides residents with creative and cultural outlets and access to galleries and museums.
It manages the City's museums, promotes historic sites, public art and also co-ordinates and presents arts programmes. The Directorate plays a critical role in economic, social and urban regeneration and in developing human talent and the vision of Johannesburg as a Creative City.
Being the cultural hub of the Creative Industries in South Africa, Joburg's creative industries strategy is a powerful way to enhance the City’s profile, identity and distinctiveness, while simultaneously creating employment, developing human skills and promoting social cohesion. 11 centers
