“Built over 100 years ago, the Johannesburg Art Gallery is the oldest museum of its kind in the city, and boasts a collection of over 10 000 artworks. In addition to robust historical and Southern African cultural collections, the 'JAG' as it is affectionately known, also houses a growing contemporary collection. Exhibitions run for an average of 3 months and showcase works from the collections as well as work from local and international contemporary artists. The public are also encouraged to visit JAG's rich art library for reference and research " Open Tuesdays to Sundays 10:00am to 5:00pm.
