About the Military Veterans
The Military Veterans Directorate (MVD) is the Directorate of the City of Johannesburg under the Office of the Chief Operations Officer and the Office of the City Manager, with the sole mandate of facilitating the provision of socioeconomic opportunities for Military veterans and their dependents.

Improve the quality of life of Military Veterans from service to honour and self-sufficiency.
Mission
To coordinate and drive strategic initiatives that enhance service delivery efficiently and effectively to Military Veterans and their Dependents in collaboration with all relevant Departments, Entities, and other stakeholders.

Core Mandate
Facilitating the provision of socioeconomic opportunities for Military Veterans and their dependents residing in the City of Johannesburg in a manner that is customer-centric, transformative, sustainable, and resilient. Central to this mandate is the commitment to support the City’s vision of a re-imagined, inclusive, and thriving urban environment.
