The legacy of South Africa's music legends will be celebrated in grand style at the 30 Years of Creative Freedom Tribute Show, a poignant highlight of the DStv Delicious International Food & Music Festival powered by LottoStar. This tribute e​vent will take place on 21 and 22 September 2024 at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit.


The tribute concerts will feature performances by the children of iconic musicians, symbolizing the passing of the musical torch to the next generation. On stage will be Selema Writes, honoring his father Hugh Masekela; Ayanda Khumalo and Tshepo Mngoma, paying tribute to Sibongile Khumalo; Tokollo and Tumelo Tshabalala, representing Mandoza; and Jesse Clegg, celebrating his father Johnny Clegg.

Saturday, 21 September: A Tribute to Hip-Hop and Kwaito Legends

The festival's first night will celebrate South Africa’s hip-hop and kwaito pioneers. The two-hour show will feature performances from Boom Shaka, Khuli Chana, Yanga, Okmalumkoolkat, Reason, Maggz, Touchline, Cassper Nyovest, Morafe, and Focalistic. Tokollo and Tumelo Tshabalala will also perform, honoring the legacies of AKA, HHP, Lebo Mathosa, Mandoza, Pro Kid, and Riky Rick. The segment will be hosted by Robot Boii, known as Mzwakhe Mbuli Jnr, who will guide the audience through a vibrant medley of the late legends' most memorable hits.

Sunday, 22 September: Honoring South Africa's Musical Giants


The second evening will focus on the timeless contributions of South Africa's musical giants. Hosted by the renowned Mzwakhe Mbuli Snr, this segment will celebrate the lives and music of Hugh Masekela, Miriam Makeba, Lucky Dube, Sibongile Khumalo, Ray Phiri, Johnny Clegg, Joseph Tshabalala, and Brenda Fassie. Performers such as Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Jesse Clegg, the Soweto Gospel Choir, Loyiso Bala, Zolani Mahola, Sipho Hotstix Mabuse, Selema Writes, Lloyiso Gijana, Tshepo Mngoma, and Ayanda Khumalo will deliver a moving tribute that promises to evoke nostalgia and celebrate South Africa’s rich musical heritage.

The 11th annual DStv Delicious Festival will also feature performances by Janet Jackson, Jill Scott, Thandiswa Mazwai, the Soweto Gospel Choir, Oskido, G-Force, Sjava, and many leading DJs including DBN Gogo, Nokwazi, Heavy K, Kent, Kabza De Small, PH, and Shimza on the Channel O Dance Stage.
