Tomorrow, Tuesday, 2 April 2019, the Executive Mayor Herman Mashaba through City of Johannesburg’s power utility, City Power, will switch on 99 new streetlights in Midrand.

In addition to this Olifansfontein Road streetlight installation, City Power has also installed 167 new streetlights in streets that include New Road, Springfield, Winnie, Surrey, Neptune, Guilford, Walton and 7th Avenue.

City Power is conducting numerous streetlight installation and maintenance projects throughout Johannesburg. While these new streetlights are being installed, City Power is continuing to undertake the maintenance of over 270, 000 existing streetlights.

Members of the media are welcome to join the mayor as he sets out to better public lighting and create safer spaces for residents of Johannesburg. 

There will be opportunities to take photos and conduct interviews.
