This morning, 28 February 2019, there was disruption of services by a group of aggrieved members of the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) at Wemmer Complex, south of the inner city.
After interacting with the aggrieved officers, they agreed to return to work.
A high level delegation from the City has met with the South African Municipal Workers Union (SAMWU) and reached an agreement and the matter will proceed in the agreed fashion.
The matter came as a result of a collective grievance which the City was recently made aware of.
The City is dealing with this on a high level and we take the allegations, which will be investigated, seriously.
Services did continue today with no further interruptions expected.
