In celebration of Mandela Day on the 18th of July 2019, Executive Mayor, Cllr Herman Mashaba, will be joined by the MMC of Health and Social Development, Cllr Mpho Phalatse, as they spend their first 67 minutes at the De Wetshof Retirement Village in Kensington, Johannesburg.
The City will be partnering with local businesses and organisations including the Nelson Mandela Foundation, 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day, Guvon Hotels and Spas and Academy, Starke Ayres, Shoprite, and Absa to bring joy to the most vulnerable of society.
The mayor will assist with the planting of a food garden as well as various other projects at the facility, true to the spirit of A Re Sebetseng, a monthly volunteer clean-up campaign aimed at instilling a sense of pride in the City of Johannesburg’s public spaces.
The City will carry the campaign forward this year as we celebrate Mandela Day and help improve facilities at De Wetshof Retirement Village.
The details of the event are as follows:
Date: 18 July 2019
Time: 09:00
Venue: De Wetshof Retirement Village, corner of Albertina Sisulu Rd and Protea St, Kensington, Johannesburg
