Tomorrow, Friday, 28 June 2019, Executive Mayor Herman Mashaba will be joined by the MMC for Public Safety, Cllr Michael Sun, and the Acting Head of the Public Safety Department, David Tembe, as they release the performance of the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) during the month of May 2019.
This month there will be a close look at top crime, recoveries as well as arrests across all regions of the City of Johannesburg.
For the first time, JMPD has also been able to include success of the newly launched Integrated Intelligence Operation Centre (IIOC) reaction Unit. This unit is focused on combatting street crimes reported on a daily basis, especially in the inner city.
These monthly presentations are a necessary evaluation for the Department to remain accountable and transparent to the residents as well as report on efforts made towards improving the safety and security of the City of Johannesburg.
