City Power has today received declaration of stage 1 load shedding from Eskom starting from 11h00 to 23h00.

Load shedding has detrimental effects on the City of Johannesburg's electrical grid. Our infrastructure is not only aged, but carries a R170 billion backlog. The impact of load shedding is so severe on the ageing infrastructure that it immediately reduces its lifespan.

I implore residents to remain patient with City Power as we work hard to ensure stable power supply when power returns.

Blocks to be affected by load shedding today between the times mentioned below are:

08H00 – 12h30: Block 2A

12H00 – 16h30: Block 3A

16H00 – 20H30: Block 4A

20H00 – 00H30: Block 5A

City Power has added 30 minutes to these schedules to allow for rebooting of the grids. As the supply may be restored at any time, customers are urged to treat their electricity supply points as live at all times.

The updated list of load shedding blocks and areas can be viewed on City Power's website www.citypower.co.za
