Today, 20 May 2019, the Executive Director for Development Planning, Ms. Amolemo Mothoagae, the Building Development Planning (BDM) Directorate and myself, will meet with staff members of Regions D (Soweto) and Region F (Inner City and Joburg South).

This forms part of the BDM Staff Outreach Programme, which allows officials the opportunities to raise issues relating to their work and challenges they are facing that could hamper on their performance, and give management the opportunity to address these issues and challenges by meeting at least once a quarter.

The last meeting covered: 1) regular follow-ups of site inspections, 2) implementation of processes to avoid cases returning from Municipal Courts, 3) law enforcement, 4) improved turnaround times on the delivery of services, and 5) Communication strategy.

The objective of these meetings is to maintain a platform for the political and administrative leadership of the Department to engage with officials at a regional level on a regular basis to improve systems, processes and the general working environment of our staff.

This will, in turn, contribute to the improvement of the lives of our residents as we work towards delivering quality services to them, because if Joburg works, South Africa works.
